Vespa - From the origins to myth in 70 years

When Enrico Piaggio left the aeronautical field at the end of World War II, he decided to tackle the
mission of creating an affordable and modern mode of transport for the Italian public.  The concept,
design and production of the scooter took some time to complete, but Piaggio eventually produced
its first Vespa in 1946. After more than 70 years, Piaggio has launched a great numbers of amazing
vespa models.

Let’s have a look at the most 10 famous models before 1980, which are now creating a wave of
vintage vespa collection in Vietnam.

In April 1946, this amazing new, functional and innovative mode of transport was presented to the general public for the first time.

At the end of 1947 Enrico Piaggio decided to completely stop the production of Vespa 98cc and to only continue with the 125cc for the Italian and international markets. The next series of the 1949 Vespa, which is today on display in the Piaggio Museum, called Vespa 125

To promote the sporty image of Vespa, Piaggio shifted the focus towards breaking new records. On April 7th, 1950, at the French circuit of Montlhery, Vespas Montlhery covered 1,049 kilometers (652 miles) and won in the scooter class at the Circuit of Genoa, holding off the challenging Lambretta.

The Vespa sidecar was launched in 1955, but was created between the late 1948 and the early 1949. The Vespa with sidecar enabled a stable and comfortable travel over long distances.
